Heritage Society begins move to its museum/research center:
Located at the corner of MN Hwy 55 and Central Ave., Kensington, MN
"Kensington--a Town & its Stone" exhibit opens Labor Day weekend-2009. This is a permanent part of the museum being developed to tell the story of the Kensington Rune Stone and the community in which it was discovered. The museum currently has about 600 sq. ft of display space, a gift shop, and the 350 sq. ft. J. A. Wedum Library will house the Society's research materials pertinent to the Rune Stone, pre-Columbian settlement/exploration of North America, the Kensington community (businesses, family histories, churches, etc.), and the surrounding area.
